Winter With a Touch of Spring!

Vest 2.jpg

Don’t be fooled by the cute outfit and smile, because today was COLD! I was trying really hard not to freeze in this picture. But despite the cold, I got out to shoot this absolutely darling outfit. My herringbone vest from J. Crew is great for days like this because it keeps me so warm! Sadly, this vest isn’t available from J. Crew anymore, but there are so many places you can find them still. Thankfully, my mom snagged this for me just in time for Christmas.

Oh! Isn’t this fence the cutest thing?! My mom and I love a good picket fence, so I thought it was obvious that I had to take a picture in front of it! I just love the color or my sweater and the vest. I had never tried this combination first, but I’m glad I did now!

Last picture I promise! I just love this outfit and I hope you do too!

Weekend Wrap up!

This weekend was great! I had so much to do, but being busy is better than being bored am I right?!

First off on Friday I got out of school, then headed to babysit two adorable little girls. I stayed with them for about 5 hours. I love kids, so this was super fun. Not to say that they were angels, but what kids is at six or two? When I got home, I was pretty tired so I basically crashed!

Saturday was really laid back. I woke up really late. My mom and I went on a long drive and just looked at pretty houses. We came back, and I took a well needed shower. I love a good shower. Then I got dressed for my last dance at school. It just so happens that it was a “father daughter dance.” Sadly, my dad just had surgery the day before so he couldn’t make it.  The surgery was nothing major, but prayers are still welcome. Since he couldn’t make it, I went with a friend and her dad. Even though my dad wasn’t there, I still had a pretty good time. I came home and pretty much repeated the events of Friday night.

Sunday, I had to wake up a little earlier that Saturday. I went to church, then out for some bagels with my mom. This has kind of become our little tradition on Sundays. It was such a beautiful day, but very cold.  We relaxed a little bit before we had to head out to my volley ball game. We lost, but we all had fun. That’s all that matters right? We came home and I studied and finished a little bit of homework. Then I took a shower an geared up for the upcoming week!

My Earliest Memory

I have never been one to get into mischief, but my first and earliest memory says otherwise. Like most little kids, I had somehow found a pair of scissors, and decided to go to town on my hair. It was a mess. I had managed to cut all of my bangs off in a somewhat jagged manner. I know the majority of children cut their hair, but I don’t think they all turn out as bad as me. I remember my mom was on the phone. I had seen her put those little safety scissors in the top drawer of my dresser, and I thought I’d go and see what they were all about. She was in her room, and I was in mine. I opened up my drawer, and grabbed my scissors. I ran into her room (she had gone downstairs for a few moments) and started cutting my hair. When she had come back upstairs, I ran back into my room and showed her my big chunk of light blond hair. I was so proud of myself, but a look of horror fell on her face. She told my aunt she would call her back. When she hung up she just stared at me. Looking back on it I can see why. Once they (my bangs) started to grow out, my mom found a way to pull my hair back with “the big red obnoxious bow” as we called it. After this experience, I learned never to cut my hair again. Mainly because I HATED that darn bow. Anyway, I’m pretty sure this is one of my favorite memories of my younger self, and I’m glad I got to share this with you guys today!

Let me know if you have any funny memories from your childhood, or your earliest memories!

Michigan Oh Michigan!

Every year, I take a trip up to Michigan with my mom and grandparents. We always stay in a different place. We rent a little cottage in Northern Michigan, and then explore our surroundings. Most of the time we try to go see a lighthouse too.

There is actually quite a funny story behind this picture. So, my mom and I heard that there was this great shipwreck that you HAD to see. So being our curious selves, we decided to go see what we could see. Little did we know that we would be hiking almost four miles to see this thing. At the time, I was only eight or nine, so I was absolutely exhausted!

Words can’t express how much I love going up North.  I have been a fish ever since I was a little baby, so the cold, northern waters can’t stop me from getting a good swim in! These past few years I have taken a paddle board out onto the lake. If you haven’t tried it yet, definitely give it a try. I enjoy it so much. This past year we stayed on Glen Lake. The water was so clear, that it almost felt like we were in the ocean.

The beach is another favorite of mine Up North. I love the feeling of the sand in between my toes. The sunsets are also such a great thing to watch. Seeing the sun slowly disappear beyond the horizon is something really special. I love just bundling up under a blanket and watching the sun set. The chill in the air makes the whole experience ten times better!

If you live in Michigan, or just like going there, feel free to leave a comment down below telling me some good places to go see. I would love to get up there and try some awesome new things!

5 Ways to Get Through a Tough Week

Hi guys! This week has been, well, not my favorite. I’m sure everyone has had these weeks, but no one likes them. When I’m having a bad day (or week) I’m constantly trying to find ways to make myself feel better. Sometimes it’s hard to find things that will lift my mood, but when I find the right thing, I’m a different person! Today, I’m going to share some things that help me feel better.

Face Masks:

I have a love hate relationship with facemasks. I tend to have really sensitive skin, so it’s hard to find masks that will sooth my face and not irritate it. Right now I’m really loving this one from Lush. Now, I also have a love hate relationship with Lush. Some of their products are very strong smelling, but this one is just the right combination.

Cleaning is kind of therapeutic for me. I love cleaning in general, but for some reason, when I need to get something out, I will most likely will turn to cleaning. I usually do things like tidy up my room, or do dishes. Some may see this as a hassle (trust me I do too sometimes), but when I’m in need of some relief it does the trick!

I love to read. It’s hard sometimes to find time to read, but when I have a good book, it hard finding time to stop reading. Right now I am reading Brooklyn. This is a story of an Irish girl who falls in love when she moves to America for a job. I would highly recommend it if you’re looking for a good read. The movie is excellent as well! But really, if you’re having a bad day, try to pick up a book.

Hot Showers:

Hot showers are a great way relax. I the steam really helps me calm myself down. They’re also really helpful when you have a cold. The heat helps to decongest your sinuses.

Now, when I say exercise, I don’t mean go run a marathon or anything too crazy! I like to go on walks, and I’m currently playing volleyball. Volleyball really makes me work, but is also fun at the same time. I am also getting ready to start a new yoga class, and I’m SUPER excited.

These are just a few ways that help me. Let me know if you have anything that helps you! Thanks for reading!

Spring is Among us!

Hi Guys! Today was such a beautiful day, so I decided to take advantage of it. This outfit is just perfect for that 60 degree weather. I have seriously been loving this white vest from Old Navy. Don’t get me wrong, I love my vests from J. Crew, but sometimes they can be pretty heavy. These vests are just the right combination of stylish, but functional. (let me know if there are any other vests that you love.) Oh! I just love this weather. How is the weather where you guys are? That’s all for today!
