Why I Started Blogging

Today’s post is a little different. I wanted to let you all know why I started bogging. I’m really excited to share with you, the little story of how I became a blogger.

My friend Kate had invited me to go to another blogger’s event. I was really excited because I hadn’t done anything like this before! The event was at Saks Fifth Avenue-fancy! We got our makeup and hair done, and tried on a bunch of different perfumes. Then, we sat down, and watched Beth (the blogger) give her “presentation” on her most liked outfits. I learned so much!

Why I Started Blogging

I’m literally obsessed with this photo from that night! We used a ring light to take the picture, and let me just say, THEY ARE AMAZING! After all of the events of the night I was pretty inspired. I wanted to start a blog just for the fun of it, and just see what would happen. So far I’m loving it! Special thanks to Kate for introducing me to the world of blogging!

Spring Fashion J. Crew Edition

To start off, I LOVE J. Crew. Their products are to die for. Their spring line is completely gorgeous, and here are some of my favorites from it.

Gingham Ankle Wrap Flats:

These are so adorable. I might not make it through Spring and Summer without getting these flats.

Striped Bell-Sleeve Top:

Not only is the pattern super cute, but what about the bell sleeves?! Cute, I think yes!

Shoulder-tie French Bikini Top in Seersucker:

There seems to be a theme with all of these items-seersucker and gingham! I love these two prints, and could wear them all the time! That’s why I love this adorable swimsuit.

My Travel Essentials

Bag.jpg

Since I’m still in school, I don’t get the chance to travel much. When I do, I have a few must haves that I take with me. This is more geared towards traveling long distances. (car or plane) This post is sort of a “collab” post with Kate from fromanamericangirl. She’s posting her travel essentials too, so be sure to check her out!

  1. Vera Bradley Duffel Bag: This bag is AMAZING! Sadly, this bag isn’t available anymore from Vera Bradley, but they still make bags like this. They’re just the average weekender. But seriously, if you don’t have a good weekender, definitely consider looking at these!
  2. Birkenstocks: I love these shoes. They are super comfortable. They are more of a summer/spring kind of shoes, but I’m that person, who if I’m travelling will wear socks with them. Haha silly right?!
  3. Notebook: This is so helpful to have around. If I have an idea I can just pull out my notebook and jot it down! I definitely write new blog ideas in my notebook. I’m also a planner, so I write my plans down as well!
  4. Vera Bradley Blanket: This blanket is something I just throw in my bag without even thinking. The quality of this blanket is so great. It’s so soft, and it’s a queen size, so super practical.
  5. Sunglasses: Sunglasses are mainly for when you’re on a car/ road trip. Having these in the car make riding in the car so much more enjoyable.
  6. Water Bottle: I love my Camelbak water bottle. They’re so good for traveling because they are spill proof. I love this water bottle dearly, but I’m looking in to getting a s’well bottle. Let me know if you have one, and any tips!

That’s all for today! Let me know of any other travel essentials, I would love to hear them!

My Biggest Challenge

Today, Ash Wednesday, marks the first day in my Lenten journey. I have decided that I will give up a few things for lent. If you don’t know, Lent is a 40 day time period when Christians give up certain luxuries (sweets, television etc.) as a form of penance and preparation for the resurrection of Jesus.

I have decided that I will give up: bread, dairy, and added sugars. You may recognize these dietary restrictions. That’s because this is essentially the Paleo diet. Not only does this have great health benefits, but it’s also a great way to represent what Jesus gave up for us when He died. These next 40 days are going to be a huge challenge, one of the biggest ones I think I have ever had. I’m looking forward to see what these six weeks bring me. I’m pretty sure Easter, for me this year will be filled with lots of candy and bread! I’m going to try to keep a “diary” throughout the whole process, so stay tuned!

xoxo

P.S. If you’re wanting to look into the Paleo diet, here is a little chart to get you started.

Winter With a Touch of Spring!

Vest 2.jpg

Don’t be fooled by the cute outfit and smile, because today was COLD! I was trying really hard not to freeze in this picture. But despite the cold, I got out to shoot this absolutely darling outfit. My herringbone vest from J. Crew is great for days like this because it keeps me so warm! Sadly, this vest isn’t available from J. Crew anymore, but there are so many places you can find them still. Thankfully, my mom snagged this for me just in time for Christmas.

Oh! Isn’t this fence the cutest thing?! My mom and I love a good picket fence, so I thought it was obvious that I had to take a picture in front of it! I just love the color or my sweater and the vest. I had never tried this combination first, but I’m glad I did now!

Last picture I promise! I just love this outfit and I hope you do too!

Weekend Wrap up!

This weekend was great! I had so much to do, but being busy is better than being bored am I right?!

First off on Friday I got out of school, then headed to babysit two adorable little girls. I stayed with them for about 5 hours. I love kids, so this was super fun. Not to say that they were angels, but what kids is at six or two? When I got home, I was pretty tired so I basically crashed!

Saturday was really laid back. I woke up really late. My mom and I went on a long drive and just looked at pretty houses. We came back, and I took a well needed shower. I love a good shower. Then I got dressed for my last dance at school. It just so happens that it was a “father daughter dance.” Sadly, my dad just had surgery the day before so he couldn’t make it.  The surgery was nothing major, but prayers are still welcome. Since he couldn’t make it, I went with a friend and her dad. Even though my dad wasn’t there, I still had a pretty good time. I came home and pretty much repeated the events of Friday night.

Sunday, I had to wake up a little earlier that Saturday. I went to church, then out for some bagels with my mom. This has kind of become our little tradition on Sundays. It was such a beautiful day, but very cold.  We relaxed a little bit before we had to head out to my volley ball game. We lost, but we all had fun. That’s all that matters right? We came home and I studied and finished a little bit of homework. Then I took a shower an geared up for the upcoming week!
